Joy FM launches You're Hired

A new reality radio Human Resource (HR) programme set to change the face of boardroom interviews in Ghana has been launched on Joy 99.7 FM, Friday.

You're Hired as it is christened will link qualified job seekers to their dream jobs.

Powered by G7 Koncepts in partnership with Joy 99.7 and L'aine Services, You're Hired will advertise, shortlist and interview prospective job applicants for real jobs live on air.

It is bound to demystify and break the myth surrounding job interview process and to educate the mass of unemployed graduates on what to do before, during and after job interviews.

"The drama, the anxiety, frustration, disappointment and jollity associated with job interviews in the boardrooms of companies will find its way on Joy M and into the bedrooms, halls and cars of Ghanaians," a director at G7 Koncepts, Nathan Gadugah said during the launch.

Outlining the modalities for the You're Hired Project, Mr Gadugah said there will be a vacancy announcement which will be advertised on Myjoyonline.com, G7koncepts.net and l'ainejobs.com with the necessary qualification.

Interested applicants will then send their applications and CVs to the three outlets after which producers of the project will screen and shortlist five applicants who will be invited for a pre-interview session.

According to him, the five applicants will be pruned to three finalists who will then appear before the interview panel for the live job interviews.

"Two best performing applicants will then be sent to the recruiting companies for assessment.

"The applicant who impresses the company gets employed and that announcement will be made on air the following week with host of Joy FM's SMS programme making the You're Hired declaration," he stated.

The programme will also thoroughly treat some of the nagging HR issues such as how to deal with difficult bosses; how to resign and keep the door to your previous employers still opened; how to deal with a boss who is making sexual advances at you, Mr Gadugah added.

To stimulate hard work and increase productivity at the workplace, there will also be the Employee of the Month segment on the You're Hired Show, he noted.

L'aine Connection

L'aine, Ghana's first and leading Human Resource development institution in Ghana is set to provide ready jobs for ready applicants for the show.

Communications Officer for L'aine, Aba Enyimayew, who was also at the launch said L'aine will "fit the right people to the right jobs" and "they will use their quality recruitment processes to boost the success of the businesses we recruit for."

She explained the word interview has been changed to a more acceptable term, chat, to keep the applicants more relaxed.

"The word interview already scares people. When you are coming in for a chat, it feels easier, it feels nicer," explained.

She announced the new vacancy to be the Takoradi Branch Administrator for a reputable company. Shortlisting for the vacancy is opened to First Degree or an HND holder as minimum qualification with a general administrative skills and added competencies in business development strategies.

You're Hired will be aired every Friday on Ghana's Super Morning Show on Joy 99.7 FM.
